Arancina Live is run by Angelo Romano, a Sicilian based in Palermo. He has spent more than ten years on the European music circuit as a touring artist, booker and agency founder, and fifteen years as a Python engineer.
Music
Started on stage
Angelo learned booking by doing it for himself. As an independent artist he toured Europe on his own dates and handled the routing, budgets, logistics, promotion and settlement.
In Barcelona he later ran an independent booking and management agency with a small roster, and booked dates for touring artists from Europe, the Americas and the Middle East.
Arancina Live continues that work from Palermo, with venues, festivals and other kinds of events across Sicily and Europe.
Software
Fifteen years of engineering
He has worked as a Python engineer in Berlin, Utrecht and Barcelona, and now works remotely from Palermo. His work is back-end systems, APIs and architecture, on anything from large consumer platforms to databases built for very large amounts of data.
He has led technical teams and co-founded a startup as its CTO. He holds a master’s degree in information technology.
He designed and built the Arancina Live platform himself. The first version ran Caravanserai Palermo, a cultural association, and handled what people ordered at the bar, memberships, accounts, invoices and events. The booking and management tools came later, for Arancina Live’s own work.
How we work
What you can expect
- Emails go straight to Angelo, and he answers them himself.
- You can write in Italian or Sicilian, his native languages, or in English or Spanish, which he speaks well. He also has intermediate Dutch and Catalan and a little German and French.
- We keep the management roster small on purpose.
- We write decisions down so we can come back to them.
- If a proposal doesn’t suit you, we say so before anything is confirmed.
